Edelbrock Carburetor
The Edelbrock Carburetor is a popular choice for many people. Edelbrock carburetors are designed for just about any application, from street to marine. They have a very unique design, using metering rods to transition between circuits. This allows for very easy adjustment of Edelbrock carbs, as you do not have to remove the carb to make adjustments, simply replacing the rods will suffice and you can do that without even draining the fuel. In addition to this, they are very popular because they are virutally maintenance free. Because of their design, you do not have to adjust the tuning, as it does not go out of tune. In addition to this, their two piece design prevents leaks, as there are no gaskets or seals below the fuel line.
The design of these Edelbrock carburetors incorporate lightweight aluminum for the body. Edelbrock uses a technology they call "EnduraShine", which they use to coat each carburetors to ensure that the chrome finish stays brilliant without cleaning. In addition to this, the special coating reduces the overall cost of production, keeping the units as affordable as possible. The Elebrock carburetor comes in two different styles, the Performer Series and the Thunder Series AVS. Both are designed to be installed and used right out of the box without any tuning needed. They each have their own unique characteristics, which makes them ideal for specific applications, from street to racing to marine.
While you can expect that your carb will last you for years, there are Edelbrock carb rebuild kits available that will freshen up a carb that has seen a lot of use, or has been stored for an extended period of time. Using one of these rebuild kits, you can expect that your carb's lifespan will be greatly extended, as it freshens up the carb and can help to restore much of the responsiveness and characteristics that made it such a great carb when it was bought new.

Edelbrock Carb Rebuild Kits
Edelbrock carb rebuild kits are available and can bring your carb back to life. These are full rebuild kits that allow you to freshen up your carburetor. While they do not completely restore your carb, they are well suited for carbs that have been sitting for a while and just need a little freshening up. You will know that you need to purchase a rebuild kit when you're having trouble with both idle and acceleration. You will notice either stumble, backfire or idle surge, which are big clues that you need to consider rebuilding your carb. If there is something drastically wrong, a simple rebuild will not suffice.
Edelbrock carb rebuild kits are equipped with everything that you need to rebuild your carburetor. The entire process can be completed in an afternoon with a set of hand tools. The process is very intricate, so you'll need to make sure that you keep track of how everything came apart so that you can put it back together again with out any problems.
Edelbrock 1477
This is the most commonly used Edelbrock carb rebuild kit. The Edelbrock 1477 has all the parts you need to rebuild your square bore Edelbrock carburetor. It comes with gaskets, springs and everything you need to be able to restore your carb back to like-new condition.
When considering using a rebuild kit like the Edelbrock 1477, you may want to have the carb looked at by a professional. There is a chance that, with carbs that have been sitting up for extended periods of time, corrosion and other dammage may have occurred, especially if the fuel wasn't treated before storage. Because of this, there may be damage to the metal components and a simple rebuild will not bring your carb "back to life" or give you "like new" condition after rebuild. If you car has been sitting up for a while, be sure to treat it with a fuel stabilizer before you try to fire it for the first time.
Marine Carburetors
If you're looking for marine carburetors, you may be confused about the differences between a standard auto carburetor and a marine carburetor. Marine carbs are distinguished by their design to keep all flammable gases within the engine. A marine carb runs inside of the housing on your boat & because the space is not well ventilated, there is an increased risk of fire or explosion within this compartment.
Adjustments that must be made to make your marine engine safe are all about keeping the fire within the engine and off your boat. You'll notice that on marine carbs, the vent tubes are bent inward, forming a j, which keeps any backfire inside the carb. Also, power valves are made specifically to keep any fuel from escaping. When these valves open under high rpm there's a risk of blow out of the fuel, especially when the throttle it cut off quickly. Because of this marine carburetor designs employ special power valves to prevent this from happening, else they do not employ a power valve at all.
Linkages also vary in marine applications. This is more about how the engine is built and how it fits within the compartment it was designed for than anything else. Marine engines come under a lot of different stresses than auto engines. This is due to their design and use, driving a prop rather than turning a set of wheels. Because of this, marine carburetors are designed differently for the different conditions that these engines operate under. This has a lot to do with what's going on inside the metering blocks, and they employ a design that's unique to marine carburetors.
Edelbrock 1409
The Edelbrock 1409 is a marine carburetor that is intended for use in small block V8s. Edelbrock also says the 1409 is a good choice for Chevy 4.3L V6's. The Edelbrock 1409 can be matched with Performer, Performer RPM, RPM Air-Gap, Torker II and similarly designed intake manifolds. The primaries on this carb are .098 and the secondaries are .101. This carb was designed for use in electric choke engines without an EGR valve.
